How long is the leash?

It is a standard five feet. Long enough for the dog to sniff comfortably but short enough to keep control near roads.

It helps a lot compared to a flat webbing handle. Mine has softened a little over time but is still comfortable. For a really strong puller, a two-handle lead might suit you better.
