Is it safe to leave my dog alone with this?

I would not. Rope can unravel and get swallowed, and this is best as a together toy. I supervise and put it away afterwards.

How long is it?

Long enough for two people to tug comfortably. I did not measure it, but it drapes across my lap with both knots hanging down. Check the listing length if you need an exact number.

I have taught my dog to bring the rope to me and drop it, which took three weeks and a great deal of cheese. The rope was the easy part. If your dog is smarter than mine, adjust your expectations downward accordingly.

I bought two so there is always one dry. The loop in the middle is handy for hanging it on the back-door hook.
