Is it machine washable?

The cushion goes in the machine on a gentle cycle. The wool cave I hand wash in cool water and reshape while damp, because hot water can make felted wool shrink.

Will a large cat fit?

My 14 lb cat fits curled up with his head at the opening, but he cannot stretch out fully. If your cat is bigger than that, measure the interior before ordering.

Wool breathes better than it looks, but it is warmer than a cotton mat. Mine sleeps on top of it in July and inside it in January, so it works either way.

Within ten minutes of setting it down, my anxious rescue was inside it with just her nose poking out. The wool is thick and holds its shape; it has not flopped after a couple of months. Ours is the grey.

The inner cushion lifts out and washes separately, which I appreciate because that is where the fur collects. The wool outer has only needed a spot clean.
