Will it hurt my pet?

The teeth are rounded and mine has not scratched the skin. Use gentle strokes and stop if your pet pulls away; it is meant to lift loose hair, not to be pressed in hard.

It does on my short-haired cat. He tolerates it in short bursts. For a long-haired cat, a different comb might suit better.

How do I clean the brush?

Every spring my dog sheds enough fur to build a second, smaller dog. This brush collects that smaller dog neatly into a bin. I feel like I am winning an ancient battle, at least until June.
