I really meant to write this months ago, but you know how it is with a hostel... guests tracking in mud, the dryer acting up... anyway. I bought these for myself to wear while doing morning rounds, and honestly... they're perfect. The lace lock thing is brilliant, no more tripping over laces in the dark hallway... and the sole has this grip that doesn't mark up the floors. I even let a guest borrow them once, and she said they were like walking on clouds... but not the kind that disappear. I've put these through mud, rain, and the occasional coffee spill... still holding up. I'm not good at writing reviews, but these shoes deserve one. Sorry again for the delay...

I ordered a size 10 but got a size 8. But instead of getting upset, I spent a delightful afternoon reading the instruction booklet. It's a gem. Page 3 has a diagram of the lacing system with arrows that look like little dancers. Page 7 explains how to clean them, and I found the author's gentle tone soothing. I will frame it. The shoes? They don't fit. But the manual, oh the manual. A triumph of prose. I'll try to exchange, but I'm keeping the booklet.

I don't know why people say these are for casual wear. I ran the Chicago marathon in them, no blisters, no issues. The lacing system kept my feet locked in for 26 miles. The instruction manual says they're 'ideal for light walking,' but whoever wrote that never ran a 3:45 in these. I read the manual twice during my cool-down. It's a literary masterpiece, full of passive voice and unnecessary caution. Bravo.
