I've been buying these CityStep Chelseas since 2017—I wear them for warehouse work, walking the dog, and even casual dinners. The old ones had a thicker, more substantial sole that lasted two years of daily wear. These new ones feel lighter, maybe cheaper? The leather is still good, soft but durable, and the pull tabs haven't ripped like some other brands. But the sole is quieter now—I used to love the solid clunk on concrete, it felt like authority. Now they're almost silent, and I miss the noise. Still a solid boot for the price, but I wish they'd kept the old sole compound. The care booklet is still the same—I've got four copies now, basically a leather-care novella collection.

I mean the boots themselves are actually fine—they're comfortable and fit well—but the delivery was five days late and I had to keep checking the tracking and the instruction manual that came with them, it's like a little booklet about how to care for leather, and I kept reading it like it was a novel waiting for the boots, which is ridiculous because it's just about cleaning them, but still, five days late is too much for what I paid for shipping.

I WORE THESE IN A DOWNPOUR YESTERDAY AND MY SOCKS WERE BONE DRY AFTERWARDS. THE LEATHER IS THICK AND THE SOLES GRIP LIKE CRAZY. I'VE TOLD EVERYONE AT MY SENIOR CENTER ABOUT THEM. THE INSTRUCTION BOOKLET IS NICE BUT WHO NEEDS INSTRUCTIONS FOR PERFECT BOOTS? THEY FIT GREAT AND I WALK MY DOG IN THE RAIN EVERY MORNING NOW. SIGNED, RONALD B.
