Okay I have to start by saying this mat is AMAZING. Like truly a game changer for my ironing game. But here's the thing: I bought the Small and it's SMALL. Like cute little postage stamp small. I was all excited and put my full-size iron on it and half the base was hanging off. I almost wrote a bad review but then I realized my mistake and ordered the Large. The Large is HUGE. It covers half my counter. So take five seconds to measure your iron or whatever you plan to put on it. The material itself is soft and smooth and it hasn't left a single heat mark on my counter even after pressing a shirt on high. Just get the right size and you'll be over the moon.

I saw someone on here claim this mat dented after one drop. I don't know what they dropped but I've literally thrown my iron onto this thing from counter height because I'm clumsy and there's not a mark. I even put a hot curling iron on it for ten minutes and it's fine. Maybe they got a defective one? Or dropped a bowling ball? The surface is slightly tacky which I like because my iron doesn't slide around. Just wanted to set the record straight. It's not fragile at all.

Got the Large for my aunt who irons everything. She's the type who presses her dishtowels. She texted me last week and said she's washed this mat twenty times already (she spills coffee on it every morning) and it's still like new. No peeling, no warping. The only reason it's not 5 stars is she said the corners curl up slightly after drying on a radiator. But she gives it a tug and they lay flat so overall solid gift. I'm a bartender so I care about durability and spill resistance. This passes.
