I restore mid-century furniture for a living, so I'm on concrete floors eight hours a day, sometimes more. My shop has a big old exhaust fan, and the radio's usually on, but I notice noise—creaks, squeaks, the wrong kind of footfall. These Nimbusknit RunLites are almost silent. The sole doesn't chirp on polished concrete like my last two pairs did. The knit upper breathes, but it's dense enough that dust doesn't get in through the weave the way it did with the 'Meshwave' model from three years ago. I've owned three pairs of this exact shoe now, and the solid feel of the heel cup—no wobble when I'm carrying a heavy oak dresser—is why I keep coming back. The foam midsole compresses just enough to take the sting out of my knees, but not so much that I lose stability when I'm pushing a sander. They hold up to glue splatters and mineral spirits better than any shoe I've worn. Only complaint: the laces fray after six months, but I replace them with waxed cotton ones.

I ordered size 10 in the dark grey. They sent size 9 in the navy. I drive a truck for a living so I can't return packages easy. The shoe itself fits tight but it's not uncomfortable for short walks. The colour is not what I wanted though, and I paid for grey. I can't fault the build quality, but the order fulfillment was sloppy. Two stars for the mix-up.

Ordered on a Monday, arrived Friday. Was supposed to be here Wednesday. I was going to use them as a base for adding a custom carbon fiber heel plate and dynamo charging system, but the delay threw off my schedule. I've already modded the sole with a vibram-style replacement anyway. The original sole is thin. The shoe itself is decent for the stock version. But one star for the shipping failure.
