Dear ThermoGlow, I’m a carpenter, and my workshop gets cold in the winter. My coffee used to go cold before I could finish measuring a tricky joint. You changed that. I set you on my cluttered bench next to a pile of sawdust and a half-finished oak table, and you just sit there—quiet, steady, glowing a soft rust color that matches the dirt on my hands. My wife laughs because I talk to you now. ‘Morning, hot plate,’ I say. You don’t judge my crooked miter cuts or the way I lose my pencil every ten minutes. You just keep my tea warm while I plane a board or fix a clamp. I appreciate that about you. You’re reliable like an old chisel. I’d buy you a beer if you drank. If you have three teenagers like me, this thing is a toy. My 17-year-old uses a massive pasta bowl for cereal, and the warmer plate is like the size of a coaster. It won’t hold a family-sized anything. My 15-year-old tried to put two mugs on it at once and they both fell off. Also the cord is short, so if your kitchen outlets are behind the toaster, good luck. It works fine for one normal cup, but with three kids, nothing is normal.
