Good clips but let me tell you about my week

So we run a small community art group and last week the kids were painting with watercolors and one little guy emptied his whole cup onto my favorite sweater. I was just trying to get the clips for our water bottles on the donation run because half the kids bring leaky bottles and we're always mopping up. Anyway the clips work fine. They snap onto the backpack loops okay and hold the 24 oz ones I ordered. Not much else to say about the product really. They do their job.

Okay I bought this because my bottle kept falling out of my bag and I'm terrible with figuring out gadgets. I got the 18-24 oz one. The clip seems well made but I can't tell if I'm using it right. The clamp thingy won't stay shut on my bottle no matter how hard I push. Is it supposed to click? I emailed customer service yesterday but no reply yet. Maybe I'm too dumb for this. Someone tell me if it fits standard bottles or if I need to return it. Thanks.
