I must say, when I first saw these TrekPole Carbon Hiking Poles in the catalog, I thought of my dear friend Eleanor and our annual trip to the botanical gardens. She always brings a walking stick, but it's so heavy and clunky! I'd rather carry a book, honestly. Last Tuesday, I was reorganizing the local history section at the library (we have a surprising number of books on peat bogs, if you can believe it), and I realized I've been meaning to walk more. The fresh air does wonders for one's circulation, you know. So I finally ordered these poles. They arrived yesterday, and they're simply delightful! So light and feathery, like holding a cloud. I took them for a spin around the block, and my back didn't ache at all. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates a proper promenade!

What's a potter without a little adventure, right? I bought these TrekPole Carbon Hiking Poles for an upcoming trip to the mountains, but I'm knee-deep in firing a batch of mugs for the fall market, so I haven't actually unwrapped them yet. But the box looks sturdy. And the weight? Feels promising. They're sitting in my studio corner, next to the clay bin, just waiting. I'll update when I've actually stepped foot outside.

Set out from the church parking lot after the potluck (I brought a broccoli casserole, no cheese, Sister Margaret approved). Conditions: overcast, 58 degrees, slight breeze from the northeast. Used the TrekPole poles for a 2-mile walk around the reservoir. They arrived two days ago, and I have to say, the smell when I opened the box—like a new car, but with a hint of cinnamon? Or maybe it was the cardboard. Anyway, poles worked fine. No slipping. The cork grip felt dry. I'd give 'em four stars, but the rubber tips left a faint scuff on my driveway.
