I measured these myself with a caliper and a sewing tape in my Transit after a week of wear. The Small size: calf opening circumference is 14.3 inches unstretched, 16.1 when pulled taut with the Velcro fully extended. Length from top of gaiter to bottom edge is 12.5 inches. The ankle strap width is 0.8 inches, and the neoprene feels like the skin of a sleeping whale when I press my thumb into it. They weigh exactly 3.2 ounces per gaiter on my postal scale. The stitching is a double row on every seam, and the buckle clicks shut with a finality that reminds me of closing the van door on a rainy night. I have washed them twice in cold water and line-dried—they shrank less than a millimeter. The bottom edge seals against my boot like a promise I didn't know I needed. They keep gravel and sand out like a filter between my boots and the earth, but they also let sweat breathe, like they know we are all just temporary visitors on the trail.

So I was knitting a pair of toe-up socks using a hand-dyed merino nylon blend from this indie dyer in Oregon, and I got to the heel flap and realized I had completely misread the pattern, like, the yarn-over was supposed to be on the wrong side and I just kept knitting in the round like an idiot. I ripped it back three times. Then my cat sat on the skein and tangled it. Anyway, I finally finished the socks and decided to test them on a hike near the hostel where I was staying, and my ankles got all scratched up by these stupid bushes. My friend said I needed gaiters, so I bought these VeloNexa things. They fit over the socks perfectly, no bunching, and the hiking was way better. But honestly, the yarn tension on those socks is still a little loose at the gusset.
