2024-11-03, 06:14 AM. Temp: 38 degrees. My dog, a terrier mix with a jaw like a bench vise, finally got to the bottle. He gnawed the cap for an hour. The manual—tucked inside the box like a sacred text—says in paragraph 3, line 2: 'Do not leave unsupervised with aggressive chewers.' I read that line every morning now, under my breath, like a prayer. The plastic has a single tooth mark. A dimple. No puncture. The water stayed cold. The O-ring seal held. I think the manual is lying to me, or it's testifying to the thicc walls of this flask. Either way, the dog is confused. I am victorious. Conditions: Wet grass, low sun, one very smug owner.

I got the 17oz one on sale for $12. I have not used it yet, because I’m waiting for my current cheap bottle to die. But I also own a $50 double-wall vacuum bottle from a high-end hiking brand. This one is within a hair of the same build. The bamboo lid is nicer on the expensive one, but the seal on this feels tighter. The paint is less matte, but it’s smooth. For $12, I feel like I’m robbing them. Student budget win? Maybe. I’ll update in a year.
