Same rope, new tricks

I've been through maybe five of these over the years, back since they were just plain rope with wooden handles. This new one with the speed beads is different. The bead action is smoother, like the old hospital lift doors opening—just glides. But the handles are lighter, which I don't love. Thing is, the grip holds up better after a 12-hour shift. I used to oil the old ones every week. Now I just rinse and go. The tape on the handle ends? That's new. And it'll peel, I guarantee it. But by then you'll have had your money's worth. The old ones lasted two jobs. This one? I'll give it three.

box came. no beads. was mad. then i found them under the sofa cushion. my first flat. everything is chaos. anyway works fine now. grip is good. rope is long.

Came home from work Tuesday—rough week, my turntable belt snapped and I had to listen to side B of a 78 at 33 rpm, just awful. I opened the jumprope and it had that sweet new-rubber-and-cardboard smell. Perfect! Started jumping and the beads felt great. But after about ten minutes, the handle started to slip in my sweaty hands. By Thursday, the left handle had a weird wobble. Now it clicks in a bad way, like a scratched record. Returning it.
