I've been collecting jump ropes for about a decade, like some people collect LPs. I've owned everything from a hollow-core speed rope (too tinny) to a leather-jacket style (too thumpy). The AirStride has a high-tensile twist that reminds me of a well-worn first-pressing of a jazz record—there's a certain 'warmth' to the arc. But I'm a little worried about the cables. They feel just slightly oversized, like a record with a warped edge. For what it's worth, the bearings are quiet as a needle drop, but I've had that before and it went wonky after 100 hours. I'm betting this one holds up because the rubber grip is tacky like a vinyl sleeve. Not perfect, but close.
