You know who you are—the one who whined about a faint new-fabric smell and called it ‘overpowering.’ I just got mine today, and the scent is nothing like gym socks. It’s more like a hardware store after a light rain, or the inside of a new laptop box. That synthetic almost-sweetness with a hint of plastic? It’s nostalgic, like the ghost of a thousand late-night prop builds. I’m a cosplayer, so I’m used to weird smells. This vest sits lightly on the shoulders, the elastic at the waist doesn’t dig in, and the reflective panels catch stage lights like frozen star trails. Perfect for a post-apocalyptic runner cosplay. One star docked because the front clasp is a bit too loud when it clicks. But the smell? It’s a good smell.

Look, the vest is fine. The stitching is solid, the reflective stuff works like it should, and the fit is okay for a size I grabbed on a whim. But I’m leaving one star because I bought this thinking I’d mod it—cut the side panels, add some LED strips, maybe stitch in a pocket for my phone. Turns out the material is too stiff for my sewing machine needle, and I was in a bad mood after I ripped a seam trying to force it. My fault, not the product’s. If you don’t plan to hack it apart, you’ll probably love it. I just wanted something I could tweak, and it fought back. So yeah, one star for my own dumb expectations.

I am terrible with technology. This vest is like a bagel that’s been left out overnight, stiff and a little crumbly when you first put it on. I mean, the material feels okay after ten minutes, but first thing in the morning? It’s like spreading cold butter on a stale bagel, not pleasant. Does anyone else have this issue? Does it soften up after a few wears? I’m keeping it at 3 stars until I hear back because the reflective bits work fine once I’m moving, but that initial texture bugs me. Like a bad mouthfeel from day-old toast. Please tell me I’m wrong.
