I own four pairs of these now. That should tell you something, but I'm not sure what. The first pair I bought in 2021, when PacePeak was still shipping them in that weird cardboard tube. They felt like regulation equipment from a dystopian fitness pamphlet. The second pair had a loose thread on the left thumb that I cut off and it's been fine. The third pair I got in the "charcoal" color and it's actually more of a battleship gray, which I prefer. This fourth pair is the "venom green" and it's alarmingly bright. It looks like something you'd find in a bioluminescent cave. They all fit the same, which is disconcertingly consistent. The velcro strap has a specific sound—a coarse, deliberate tearing—that I've come to trust more than any human guarantee. The rubberized grip on the palm has worn down on every pair after about 18 months, but never fully, like a loyalty that lingers. I wash them every few weeks and they dry with a faint chemical smell. My wife thinks I'm paranoid. I think she's not asking enough questions.

I bought a small and a medium by accident. The small fits my left hand. The medium fits my right. I keep them in the diaper bag. They smell like wipes now. The grip works on the stroller handle. I have not slept in 14 months. The velcro is loud when I open them. That wakes the baby. I recommend buying one size up if you have carpal tunnel. I don't have time to return things.

I've had these since spring of 2021. I've modified them—replaced the elastic band with a bungee cord, added some rubber patches on the palm where the original grip wore thin. My wife said 'those look like something a serial killer would wear' when she saw me sewing on the patches. I think she was joking. I don't know. Anyway, the original stitching on the thumb hole started fraying around year two, but I reinforced it with dental floss and it's now stronger than the rest. The velcro still catches, though it catches less aggressively than new. The smell is there, but it's faded into a neutral sort of fabric scent. I wouldn't buy them again because I'll probably still be using these in five more years. My wife still comments on them. She says 'you're still wearing those gloves?' and I don't have a good answer.
