I bought a dozen of these for my Girl Scout troop as a surprise gift before our overnight campout. The girls were skeptical at first--they thought they were just cheap plastic bands--but once we got out on the trail after dark, they were all obsessed. The reflective crystals actually catch light from any angle, even just a distant headlamp, and the ankle bands stayed put all evening without slipping down into their shoes. One kid said she felt like a "glowing secret agent." The only complaint was that a couple of the bands had a faint chemical smell out of the package, but it aired out after a day. The troop leader honestly had to pry them off to get the kids to bed. These are great for visibility and morale.

I saw someone's review where they said these look 'like cheap Christmas decorations,' and I was about to pass. But I ordered them anyway because my night walks to check the hives are getting dangerous. In person, the crystals are much more subtle and elegant than the product photos suggest--they catch light like tiny mirrors, not like glitter glue. They do photograph brighter than they look to the eye, which might be what that other reviewer was grumbling about. But honestly, walking under the moonlight, they're pretty classy. My only gripe is the velcro closure feels a bit weak; I worry it'll lose grip over time.

I camp every other weekend, sometimes in areas with zero light pollution, so I've bought a lot of reflective gear over the years. Most of it is garbage. I ordered these expecting plastic trash that'd break in a week. But they're actually sturdy, the silicone is thick, and the crystals are embedded well, not just glued on. I've worn them three nights now, rain and mud, and they still look new. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the "one size" is a bit generous--if you've got skinny ankles like me, they flop a little. Still, solid product for the price.
