Look, I’ve owned three of these now—one for myself, two for the guest room at our hostel up in the mountains. The first one lasted about eleven months before the zipper teeth started catching on the nylon. The second one, same thing, but I think that was a fluke because the third one we got last August is still going strong, even with guests stuffing muddy hiking boots into it. Honestly, I only bought the third one because the local post office kept delaying our packages and I was already in a bad mood about a misplaced reservation. The week was a mess—a couple from Munich showed up two days early, the water heater broke on Thursday, and I spent Saturday morning trying to find a plumber who didn’t charge triple. But the bag itself? It’s fine. The side pocket fits a water bottle perfectly, and the handle is padded just enough. I just wish they’d offer a 30L version—25 is too small, 35 is too big for most people’s weekend stays. Anyway, I’m keeping this one. For now.

First off, don’t get the 25L if you own more than two water bottles—it’s tight. Second, the olive color they show online is way more gray in real life. It looked fine next to my black backpack, but next to my navy hiking jacket, it just clashes. Also, the inside smell is strong the first week—like chemical factory fresh. Air it out for two days before stuffing with clothes. And the bottom pocket? Only fits flat items, not a phone case. Otherwise, it’s sturdy for the price. Just know the truth upfront.

So I bought the 25L thinking it was another flimsy gym bag that would fall apart after two trips to the board game night. First game night, I stuffed it with seven boxes of expansions—Catan, Ticket to Ride, the works—and the zipper got stuck halfway. I was fuming, ready to return it. Then I realized I’d forced the bag’s main compartment diagonally and pinched the fabric. Once I repacked it flat, the zipper slid smooth as butter. The side pocket holds my dice bag and rulebook perfectly. It’s not the toughest I’ve owned, but it’s smarter than I gave it credit for.
