I run a small café downtown and we have surge protectors everywhere—behind the espresso machine, under the pastry case, by the register. This is the fourth VoltGrid I’ve bought and I can’t stop. They’re built like little tanks. The rubberized plug feels solid, doesn’t crack in the cold draft from the back door. The switch is a bit stiff but that’s fine, means my barista won’t accidentally shut off the grinder mid-rush. The LEDs are dim enough not to bother anyone at 5 AM when I’m opening up. Only complaint is the cord could be a foot longer for the tight spots behind the fridge. But honestly, I’ll buy another next month when we expand the sandwich station.

The setup instructions are terrible. It’s a surge protector, how hard can it be? But they had this diagram with like 12 arrows and a note about ‘grounding’ that made no sense. Took me 20 minutes to figure out you just plug it in. Seriously. Works fine now though.

I bought this surge protector after my sous chef recommended it and honestly it’s the best thing that’s happened to my counter setup because it has this little cord wrap on the back that lets me coil up the cord so neatly when I’m done and then it slides into this skinny gap between the toaster and the coffee machine and I don’t have to look at a tangled mess anymore plus the outlets are spaced wide so my blender plug doesn’t block the next one and it’s just a joy to store away every night like a proper kitchen tool which is more than I can say for most appliances in my life.
