I have owned four of these now, bought as singles, then the 2-pack, then the 3-pack. Here is the thing: in the product photos on Carryall, the spread looks this deep, velvety crimson, almost glowing. In my kitchen, under my overhead light, it's a flat rusty brownish-orange, no depth. I've tried different spoons, different bowls, different angles. The only time it looked decent was when I photographed it at golden hour on my windowsill, and even then, it was more 'muted terracotta' than 'fiery sunset'. The taste is excellent - smoky, a little sweet, good heat. But the packaging is a lie. It's a little embarrassing when you serve it at a party and people see the jar, then look at your sad brown blob. Still, I keep buying it because it's good on eggs and sandwiches. But I am lowering my rating to 4 because the marketing photos are basically fiction.

Okay, full honesty: I bought this as part of a gift basket I'm putting together for my neighbor, who is a keen cook. I haven't opened the jar myself because I'm a gardener and mostly eat what I grow, which is not red peppers this year. My question is: would this be a good gift? The jar looks nice enough, like a decent condiment. But I'm worried the flavor might be too generic. I want it to be impressive, not just 'oh, another spread'. If anyone has given this as a gift, please tell me. Might return it for something else.

I'm 6'5". First thing in the morning, before coffee, I just want my breakfast routine to work. This took forever to arrive, no tracking update. When it did show up, the jar felt weird in my big hands - too small, slick plastic that slips. The spread itself is fine, I guess. But the whole experience of waiting for it, then fumbling with a tiny jar at 6 am when I'm grumpy and still half asleep? Not worth the hassle.
