So I work from home and my desk is a disaster zone of mugs and resistors and three monitors and I have this habit of picking up my phone to read a slack message and then forgetting I have it in my hand while I reach for a soldering iron and the phone just falls. usually onto the floor. sometimes onto the keyboard. once into my coffee. the NimbusDock has a satisfying heft to it like it was designed by someone who knows gravity is a fact of life. I've dropped it off my desk onto tile twice and once down a flight of stairs because I was moving my setup to the living room and it bounced like a spring. no cracks no wobble. the rubber pads are still sticky. I don't know how they did it but I'm buying a second one for my bedside. also the led is not too bright which is nice because my cat thinks it's a bug.

I've been using this for a week in the kitchen to hold my tablet while I follow recipes and it's fine but here's the thing, I dropped a glob of garlic oil on the base and wiped it off but now I keep thinking about the seam where the silicone meets the plastic and whether oil can seep in there and get rancid. has anyone taken these apart or do they just wipe clean forever? I'm leaving three stars while I wait for an answer because the product itself is fine but I need to know if it's dishwasher safe or if I should just use a spray. it's not cheap and I don't want to ruin it.

I have one in my studio by the wheel to charge while I wedge clay, one in the kiln room to prop up my glaze notes, one by the sink for recipe videos, and I just bought this one for my apprentice who kept stealing mine. The grippy base doesn't slide on wet counters. The cable slot keeps the cord neat. It's the only stand I've found that doesn't tip over when I bump the table. Solid piece.
