this is my fourth voltweave dock after i destroyed three in walk-ins. the usb-c port on this one feels tighter less wobbly which matters when you're plugging in a wet phone after service. hdmi out to the kitchen display is crisp no flicker even when the fryer kicks on. the sd slot is still a little finicky if you don't push the card in at exactly the right angle but once it's in it stays. the heat dissipation is better than previous versions my old one would get hot enough to sear a scallop this one stays warm at worst. only complaint the usb-a port on the side is too close to the hdmi port so you can't plug in both if one has a thick cable. but for 45 bucks in a commercial kitchen it's solid

i haven't even opened the box yet i just sat down with the instruction manual while my code compiled. it's strangely poetic all caps warnings about static electricity and this diagram of a dock floating in a void. i might frame it. the dock itself probably works fine but i'm savoring this moment

okay here's the thing. i just got off a twelve hour and i'm running on caffeine and spite. if you're buying this for a laptop that only has one usb-c port make sure your charger is usb-c too because this dock doesn't pass through power. i learned that the hard way in a break room. also the hdmi port doesn't support 4k at 60hz even though the box says it does. 30hz max. but for extranal drive and mouse it's fine. just read the fine print on the back of the box. i didn't
