I own three of these now. One in my kitchen for the espresso machine and grinder, one by my couch for charging everything, and one in my bedroom for lights and fan. This strip is like a mother hen gathering her chicks, all those cords tucked under her wings. It feels substantial, not flimsy like those cheap plastic things that crack if you look at them wrong. The toddler question: we have a 2-year-old who loves cords and outlets. This SurgeGuard has that little sliding cover on the unused outlets, which she hasn't figured out yet. But she's persistent, like a cat testing a fence. I've seen her try to yank the strip by the cord, and it stays put because the base grips the floor well. No loose heat, no flickering lights even when the espresso machine draws power. So far, so good, but I'll update if she outsmarts it. It's like a sturdy turtle, not a flashy rabbit.

Okay so I was totally ready to trash this because all the 5-star reviews seemed SO fake right??? But then I plugged my mixer and my sous vide into this VoltEdge SurgeGuard and guess what? It actually works fine. The outlets are snug, no sparking, no weird smells. But WHY are there so many perfect reviews?? Seems fishy!! Still, I'll grudgingly admit this is a decent strip for my kitchen station. Just don't expect me to praise it!!!

The cords stay neat because the outlets are spaced well, not cramped like a cheap buffet. The build feels solid, like a cast iron pan. If you're worried about environmental cost, maybe focus your energy on the plastic in your coffee maker instead of a strip that'll last years. This SurgeGuard does its job without drama, and that's exactly what I need.
