Working too well, like a spicy curry in a small kitchen

I bought this for late-night reading, and it's so bright and adjustable that now my roommate complains it's like a floodlight in the room. The warm white is perfect for cozy vibes, but on max it's like a curry that's so spicy you can't stop eating it but your eyes water. The head casts a sharp shadow that highlights every dust bunny. Now I have to clean my desk constantly because the lamp shows all the grime. It's like a perfect sauce that makes every other taste bland.

Has anyone tried using this lamp for seed starting in a cool basement? I bought it hoping the warm white setting would mimic sunlight enough for tomato seedlings, but after three days, the stems are stretching weird. Is the lux output really 500? Or does the neutral white give more blue spectrum? I'm waiting to hear before I return it, so leaving 3 stars for now. Also, is the base heavy enough to not tip over if a cat bumps it? My potting mix always ends up dusty on the surface, and I worry about cleaning.

Future buyers, listen: this lamp is like that distracted cat that chases shadows but never actually catches the mouse. I'm a software dev, so I need focused light for coding at night. The three color settings are nice, but the touch controls are *too* sensitive—brush it with your sleeve and it switches modes mid-sprint. The head wobbles if you tighten it too much, like a dog with a floppy ear. And the charging cable is stiff, so it pulls the lamp slightly off-center over hours. If you expect reliability, get a lamp that doesn't act like a hyperactive puppy.
