LiLila M. VerifiedThird time's the charm, actually the first two were perfect tooMay 16, 2026
I own four Velluna Cloudknit Beanies now—oatmeal, forest, slate, and an older one in a color they don't make anymore. The first one I got two winters ago, and it's still holding up after countless washes (cold water, hang dry, obviously). The knit is dense but not stiff, and it doesn't stretch out into a saggy mess by noon like every other beanie I've tried. The oatmeal one pills a tiny bit on the inside after a lot of wear, but that's just the nature of this yarn blend. The slate is my daily driver now—it goes with everything, and the cuff is deep enough to fold twice or pull down over my ears when it's really biting. I gave one as a gift and my friend said it's the only beanie that doesn't make her head itch. Briarwood Apparel clearly knows what they're doing with this design. My only nitpick is that I wish they offered a charcoal heather, but that's just me being greedy. If you're on the fence, just buy one. You'll end up with three.

June 23, 2026
I haven't actually put this on my head because it's been -25°C here for three weeks straight and I'm not leaving the house unless I have to. But I did take it out of the packaging and squeeze it into my parka's zipper pocket to see how it fits in there. It compresses down to almost nothing, like a little pancake of warmth, and then fluffs right back up when I pull it out. That's a big deal for me because I hate bulky stuff. Probably gonna wear it tomorrow if the wind dies down.

I measured the beanie flat with a tape measure because we're knitting similar ones for the church bazaar and I wanted to compare. The crown is 8 inches from brim to top, the brim is 3 inches deep when folded once, and the circumference unstretched is 19 inches. Stretched, it goes to about 22 inches. The yarn feels like a merino blend, not too wooly. It's like a gentle sheep that doesn't bite—warm without being pushy. I'll be recommending this pattern to the ladies.
