If you've ever owned the 2003 deluxe edition of Under-Eye Gel Pads—you know, the ones that came in the tin with the slightly warped lid, from that company that later got bought out—these are like a faithful remake. The gel is a touch softer, less rubbery. The hydration lasts about as long as a standard game of Settlers of Catan, maybe a hair less if you're rolling badly. They don't slide off your face during a tense round of Ticket to Ride, which was my main concern. Not exactly groundbreaking, but a solid expansion to the collection. I'd rank it between 'Munchkin expansions from 2008' and 'a good foam core insert.' Three-point-seven stars, but I'll round up out of nostalgia.

The gel pads themselves are fine—cool, soothing, actually depuffs my eyes after a night shift. But the box? It's a cardboard sleeve with a plastic tray inside that's impossible to open without tearing the sleeve. I had to cut it with scissors, and now the tray sits loose on my shelf. The pads are good, but the packaging is a passive-aggressive battle every time. Four stars for the product, minus one for the box that feels designed by someone who hates their customers.

Future buyers: I think these are... okay? I mean, I used them once, and my under-eyes felt slightly less... tired? But I have a toddler. She got her hands on one for about four seconds. It is now stuck to the cat. So. I can't say for sure if they're good for long-term use because I spent the whole ten minutes she was napping reading the instructions. They say 'store in a cool, dry place.' My house is neither. So, maybe? But if you have a small human who climbs shelves, maybe don't. Or do. I don't know. I'm tired.
