Okay so these Threadara CrystalFlip earrings are AMAZING—they catch every flicker of light and people at the office literally stared the first time I wore the Gilded Amber pair!!! But here's the thing: they flip and flash so much that I can't just toss them in a drawer. No! I have to store them separately in a padded pouch or they'll snag on everything. I bought a little plastic organizer with individual slots just for these. My whole system is ruined!!! Also they clink super loud when I set them on my dresser—like musical tiny glass bells. My cat keeps investigating. So yeah, five stars but be warned: you will become a jewelry storage fanatic if you buy these.

Conditions: sitting in my chair, knitting a sock, reading a pattern with tiny numbers. Wore the Icy Clear pair. They didn't catch on my yarn at all—not once. That's rare for dangling earrings. They weigh about nothing so no earlobe fatigue after two hours. The crystal faces did flip a bit when I turned my head to count stitches, but it was more like a soft shimmer than a distraction. Good for long knitting sessions. No snags, no pulls. I'd say they're safe for lace work.

I bought the Icy Clear pair. The flipping mechanism—a tiny hinge inside the crystal mount—started getting stiff after about 11 months. By month 13, the right earring's hinge snapped. Not repairable at home; the parts are microscopic. I suppose it's a foreseeable issue with moving parts. I could check with a jeweler but it's not worth the cost. They worked fine until then. Not bad, not great. I might buy a second pair if they're half off.
