i have owned four Silkenza sets now. three classic, one jumbo. i give them to friends. they are like stray cats i domesticate. the first one was a feral thing i bought on a whim. now it lives in my sister's bathroom. the left-handed problem is this: the clip is ambidextrous but the satin sways clockwise when you wrap. i fight it like a leash. but after a hundred nights we have a truce. the jumbo wrap is a golden retriever—big, loyal, sheds but in a good way. the classic is a barn cat. both earn their keep. my hair has never been healthier. i will continue to adopt these until my bathroom is a sanctuary.

i unpacked the Silkenza classic wrap at 4am before watering my tomatoes. the instruction manual is three pages of zen. it says 'gently twist sections away from face' like a haiku about a river. i have never followed directions in my life but this one i framed. the fabric smells faintly of factory ozone but that's the smell of promise. my hair is currently wrapped and i'm admiring how the satin catches the dew. day one and i'm already a convert. the jumbo wrap is still in its bag. that's tomorrow's article.

my hair has never been this curly and i hate it. i wanted waves not ringlets. anyway. cleanup is stupid easy just toss it in the washer with my socks. no complaints there. anyway i look like a poodle. i'm going back to sleeping on a towel.
