Listen. I was on tour, crammed in a van with three other people and a snare case. My phone pinged: ‘Nimbura sale, 40% off.’ I’m partial to black beanies for the stage (stage lights + dark hair = less glare) but the Berry Ink was on clearance for $12. I bought it. I kept it in my bag for two months. Then we played this dive bar in Ohio and the AC was broken, but my drumkit was in a drafty corner. I tore open the package in the green room (which was a moldy closet). That beanie—soft, warm, didn’t leave fuzz on my sweaty forehead. The singer asked where I got it. I told him and he bought one on the spot. Now it’s my go-to for cold drives between gigs. Zero regrets. Every musician needs a beanie they don’t care about. This one looks good worn in.

I’m 6’5” and my partner says this beanie makes me look like a lollipop. I actually don’t mind the look—it slouches nicely, covers my ears. But that little drawstring? I have big fingers and trying to adjust it while wearing the beanie is like performing microsurgery blind. It’s a thin cord with a tiny plastic lock. Almost impossible to use if you’re not dainty. She won’t wear the beanie at all because she thinks it’s ‘too long.’ I like it fine. Good for cold mornings at the dog park. Just don’t ask me to fiddle with that stupid cord.
