This is my third GlowFolk VelvetDrape Kimono. I bought Midnight Plum first, then Teal Breeze, and now Sand Beige because I have a problem and it's called being cozy. I wear them for everything—grocery runs, lounging, pretending I'm going to do yoga, actual yoga, and once to a Zoom meeting where I angled the camera so no one saw the giant coffee stain I got on the sleeve twenty minutes prior. The fabric is this weirdly perfect velvet that doesn't feel like crushed sadness or cheap costume; it's soft but not staticky, and it drapes like a hug if a hug were a garment. I have sensitive skin—like, I can't wear most synthetic blends without breaking out in a rash that looks alarmingly like a map of the London Underground—but this stuff breathes okay even when I'm sweating from doing nothing. My only complaint is that the tie belt could be longer if you're tall or just like a dramatic trailing effect, but honestly I'm just nitpicking because I love them so much would buy a fourth if they made it in a color called 'emotional support fuchsia' thanks Lumière Beauty Lab please don't discontinue this line I will riot.

Look, the kimono is fine. It's soft, the color (Teal Breeze) matches the photo, and it didn't fall apart in the wash. But I ordered it after a week where three guests checked out having left the room smelling like regret and old curry, and I was hoping this would be like a lemon sorbet for my soul—crisp, cleansing, a reset. Instead, it's more like a piece of untoasted white bread: edible, but not what I needed. My problem, not the kimono's. Still, one star for false advertising of my own expectations.

I specifically clicked Midnight Plum and got Sand Beige. It's not ugly, exactly—more like a beige that reminds me of my mother-in-law's dental appointment waiting room—but now it's relegated to the guest bathroom towel hook because it doesn't go with anything in my bedroom. If it were the right color, probably 4 stars. But as it is, it's just a beige dust catcher in a room I never enter.
