Like a faithful old terrier in the greenhouse

I own three of these now, not counting the one I gave my sister. The first one I bought two years ago for working in the garden on cool mornings. It's like a terrier breed: dependable, a bit stubborn in the wash, but never lets you down. The cable knit is dense enough that thorny rose branches just slide off it, which is a marvel. But the real test is the heat. We had a freak 95-degree day last June and I had to water everything at noon. I wore this sweater because I was too lazy to change. And you know what? It didn't make me feel like I was suffocating like those acrylic blends do. It breathed. It wicked the sweat and dried fast. The wool didn't get that wet-dog smell. It's like a terrier that knows when to lie in the shade. I hand-wash it in cold with a squirt of wool wash, lay flat on a towel, and it's good as new. The heather green one faded a bit after the third wash, but the oatmeal and slate blue are stubborn. Like a good hound. I just wish they did a larger pocket for holding trowels and seed packets. The current one is fine for a phone or a pack of seeds, but not much else. That's my only bone to pick.
