i had a parka from like 2008 that was similar but the fabric was louder and the zipper always stuck. this cloudpuff one is quieter and lighter. i read the instruction manual cover to cover, which i would not normally do, but it was written like a novel almost, with care. it talks about the material like it's a living thing. it said 'our fabric breathes with you' and i thought, okay, that's poetic. anyway, i take it camping every other weekend and it holds up to morning frost by the lake. good pockets for a map.

observations: 1. the parka takes up half a closet rod when hung, which is fine for my space. 2. folded into the included stuff sack, it becomes the size of a large grapefruit, which i can shove behind my car seat. 3. my teenager son grabbed it for a sleepover and said 'mom, this is actually comfy.' 4. my other teenager used the hood as a makeshift bag for their phone. 5. the third teenager hasn't stolen it yet, which is a win. verdict: good for hiding from teenagers. four stars only because the stuff sack zipper is a little stiff.

i bought this as a birthday gift for my sister who lives in arizona, but then i realized it's a parka and she lives in a desert. i'm a software developer and i work from home, so i just wear hoodies all day. the fabric feels like a kind of microfiber? it's very light and soft. i think it would be great as a computer chair blanket or a pillow for naps. my sister said she might use it as a bed for her cat. overall, it's a good product and i'd recommend it for gifting, even if you don't know what you're giving.
