Okay so I unbox this at the pass and I think, this is a tiny little dumpling of a bag, not the main course I paid for. But then I actually picked it up and it has this beautiful heft in the hand, not heavy like a lead brick but solid like a well-seasoned cast iron pan, and the leather grain feels as structured as a perfect mirepoix. My girlfriend laughed and said 'you're weighing a purse?' and I said 'balance is everything, dear.' It fits my phone, a small notebook, and a pen minus the stress of a clunky tote. Honestly, a five-star bag for the weight alone.

Owned this bag for one day and I already swapped the strap clip for a carabiner and stitched a webbing loop on the side for my water bottle. The leather is easy to punch holes in if you have a good awl. The bag is basically a blank canvas for anyone who knows their way around a sewing awl. I will probably redo the internal pocket tomorrow. Initial impressions: very solid foundation. Five stars but I haven't carried it outside yet.

I got the black one and it seems nice enough but the instruction manual inside (which is basically a fold out card with drawings) has a picture of a little arrow pointing into the front pocket with no words so I'm not sure if that's where the strap clip goes or if it's for a keychain or what. I am terrible with zippers and pockets so can someone tell me if the manual actually explains the hidden pocket or is it just a suggestion. I'll update my review when I hear back.
